Esco
Medical Instruments was founded in 1990 by Ted Esser. Headquartered in
Stony Brook, New York, Esco began as a specialty medical instruments manufacturer,
focusing on forceps for a wide range of applications. In 1993 the company
sold its product line and patents to C.R. Bard, but continued to produce
key components of these products as a supplier to Bard.
Following the expiration of its non-compete agreement with Bard in 1998,
the company began development of a new line of biopsy forceps based on
a revolutionary, cutting edge design concept.
In 1999 Esco introduced the Trilobite line of biopsy forceps , which was
recognized by Business Week Magazine and the American Society of Design
Engineers as a Bronze Award winner in the Medical and Scientific Equipment
Category of the Industrial Design Excellence Awards. The Industrial Design
Excellence Award is the worlds most prestigious and coveted design
accolade.
In 1999 Ted Esser retired from the active management of Esco and long
time employee Matt Broderick and his wife Liz assumed leadership of the
company. They have continued the Esco tradition of combining state-of-the-art
design, exceptional value, and unmatched customer service.
Today, as in the past, Esco products are American-made and are subjected
to a rigorous inspection and quality control process to ensure your complete
satisfaction. Esco also remains committed to a policy of ongoing product
development
and improvement in order to offer you the most technically advanced products
in their class.
